Frequently Asked Questions

If you are considering outsourcing your typing to a transcription company, it is vital that you know from the outset precisely what your ultimate goal is, in terms of cost, turnaround times, type of work, etc.

That way, you will be better able to ensure that the transcription company you choose will be able to meet your needs.

Research is key!

Below are some of the questions we are often asked and which may help you with your decision:-

Who will be typing my work?

All work will be transcribed by a UK-based, experienced legal transcriptionist with English as their first language.  Typists are trained by us and are expected to meet the high standards we set for all work that we produce.

Prior to joining our team, all potential typists will be expected to undertake typing and grammar tests. If they fail to meet the required standard, they will not be offered a place on the team.

 

Do you use voice recognition software?

No, never.  

All work is transcribed by a human being.

 

Is there a minimum amount of work that I need to send to you each month?

No.

The service we provide is strictly “on demand”. You can send us as much or as little as you want. It doesn’t even matter if you send nothing for months at a time. We are here when you need us!

 

Do you charge any type of subscription fee?

No.

We do not charge our clients for anything other than the work we do. You will never be asked to pay any kind of ‘subscription’ fee.

 

What do you charge and are there any ‘hidden’ fees?

Our fees are clearly set out on the “Rates” page of our website.

If, for any reason, we need to levy a charge for anything over and above our displayed fees or any previously agreed fee, we will advise you in writing and await your authorisation before starting/continuing the project.

Basically, if we have not received your written authority prior to incurring the additional charge(s), you will not be invoiced for it.

 

What are your turnaround times?

We have a number of service levels to suit your requirements, ranging from Economy to Urgent/Priority. Please see the “Rates” page on our website for more detailed information.

If your preferred turnaround time does not match any of our service levels, we may still be able to help. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

 

Will you undertake quality checks prior to returning my work?

Absolutely.

Quality checks are included as standard and all work is thoroughly proofed, prior to being returned to our clients. We pride ourselves on the accuracy of our work, which we consider to be excellent.

 

How seriously do you take confidentiality and privacy?

We consider privacy, confidentiality and data protection to be the core tenets of our company and all information supplied to SW Legal Transcription is treated with the utmost confidentiality and sensitivity.  We are fully GDPR compliant and registered with the ICO.
